I built this 1/24th scale Ionia 15 years ago and then sold it on, well she has now returned to the bench where she was built, apart from a few modifications and add ons over the years she still looks as good as new.
I only had to replace a couple of switches and renew the batteries that drive the radar and she is up and running, very pleased to have her back.

Looks like it was well looked after for that period of time.

Hi John, yes once she had had a good clean, she looks as good as new, but I still preferred her in the original colours.
Only had to do a little and she is ready for next season, she is a unique little boat.
Look after yourself Bro.  Geo.

Yes George, it has been very quiet here for the last few months.
I had assumed that it was summer distractions but it might be more fundamental than that.
Good to see you back at the bench.
Do you have photos of all of your models (past and present). It would be good to see all your works. You must have a museum's worth by now.

Hello Steve,  if you look at the steam tug, modern tug,and classic motor tug threads there are a lot of builds on themes and the hulls  one, and in the club events threads under Chantry there are a lot of pictures.  Geo

Do model builders ever regret selling a model?

I sold one and wished I had not. Not sure where it is now but be it a scale model or own design I feel there is more to the model than just what you see.

We intimately know how it was built, the decisions we made to build it and the cost and it seems you never get the reward back in what we sell it for.

Unfortunately we have to sell models for various reasons and its sometimes sad.

I am glad you have your fine model back.

Fantastic George. . .what a beautiful build your Ionia presents. She sparkles with detail and flashes onto my tugboat mind better than the real one. I can understand your feelings that she came back to you. Like Vanya asked, "Do model builders ever regret selling a model?" Well, I know I have many regrets and the biggest of them is having sold my models over the years.

I feel good that you have yours resting where it belongs. You are fortunate to have it come back home in such good shape and all. Congratulations George.

Thanks all and yes Vanya this is one that I wish I had never sold, but she is back now and looking good,
Hi Bro, I am very surprised at how little I had to do to her,a bottle of Mr Muscle and in the bath she went a good spray left for 10 minutes and a shower and she came out spotless,a new power switch, new radar switch, and a wiring tidy that was about it so really she had been cosseted and not abused at all, so big Bro is a happy bunny, only trouble is now though, she is a bit heavy for me to lift onto the boat rack on the stairs,  (. Never thought that one out. ). so she will be living with Trevs collection for the time being.  Geo
