hello all got a pot of tamiya acrilic paint on way home have not used before have tryed a few test pieces not happy with finish any ideas to any other paint to use ? i am going to brush paint was going to try humbrol local model shop had no white so said try tamiya not done anythink like this before all help greatfull steve

Some acrylics are better than others. Some, like Tamiya, are not totally water based.
I use Humbrol enamels. They go on in a thinner coat and seem to me to have a tougher more resilient finish.
I'm sure acrylics are waterproof as well but I trust enamel more. It's what they use on real boats.
Brush painting can have its own issues with large areas.

G'day Steve I agree with sea monkey, I always use Humbrol enamels, have tried most of the others but always end up with Humbrol, were lucky we have two shops that sell it so if one is out of stock the other normally has it,
