If I ever get a towboat done this self powered spud barge will be pushed by it. Till then, I have something to enjoy in the water.

the barge is looking great, did your digi cam ever work again?

Thanks bigford.  How is your setup doing?

No, my camera never fully recovered. It will take a photo, but won't zoom, or go to macro focus along with several other items that no longer work. I saved the 2gig memory stick but am thinking of now giving it a fitting burial at sea.....well...er....pond.

I have since replaced the dead Casio with a new Cannon. Note to self: Keep it in the pants pocket instead of the shirt pocket.   :'(

Hi Pops,

That barge is first rate, and looks big, or is that just a small pusher in the foreground.
Don't commit the camera to Davy's locker, instead fit into one of your boats and snap some 'out at sea' photos.

Cheers - Ken

That barge is real nice looking. Me and Hannah will be building a couple of barges soon and we were looking for some inspiration...........Found it now.

Thanks for the well wishes and the added forum. I still need to automate the spuds to raise and lower. It also needs to be weathered to give it the "work barge" look. This barge is designed for a bigger crane. That will come in few more months. It is 1:48th scale 190'x72'x14' equalling ~45"x17"x3.5". The tug was some smaller scale (unknown)

Must work to add to the new forum.   ;)

Thanks again.

I spent the day building a winch that would lift all four spuds at one time. Now I'll be able to lower the spuds into the river (pond) bottom anchoring the barge in one position without the current taking it away.

Today I tested the spuds on a pretty windy afternoon. The spuds worked good except for the one that worked well in the shop, but tended to stick at the lake. Held pretty good with three of them in the sand.

HI POPS ; Great shot of the barge , and especially the composition of the picture. With a barge that good you can get any towboat to tow it.      PUFFIN

Here is a link to a video of the barge on the water. A little past half way the video focuses on the raising of the spuds. It is slow but you will see the white paint (my signal to stop the raising process) come up through the spud wells.
