C-10 info required please
« on: December 15, 2008, 12:52:04 »
hi folks
Visited Ebay saw 2 photos of C-10, my farthers 2nd admiralty tug posting and
the admiralties first diesel tug (air start 450 bhp Polar Atlas) this was the first
marine diesel i ever started and at the ripe old age of 7 or 8 years
  After the photos arrived
                         A NEW PROJECT WAS BORN!!!!!!!!!!!
AHHHH !!   shes a sweet little harbour tug

Looking on the Net i see shes now called THOMAS after the owner and was moored in
South Wales-poss-Port Talbot/Swansea C-10 was also known as the Destiny-Affluence
and Influence
Is she still there and where?
Is she accessible and are there any known contacts
Does anybody have photos or line drawing please other than the one ive posted
   thanks in advance

Hi PB, C-10 is still moored in Swansea Marina next to Canning. You can get up close but I am not sure if you can get onboard, she is in a very sorry looking state. I have a pic of part of her but I was down there photographing Canning.
I will be down there again soon as she is only 30 mins away from where I live. I will see what pics I can get for you.

Mark.

  Hi Mark
Many thanks for the info and photo -brougt back early childhood memories--
of falling down the bridge steps
She does look a poorly girl and neeeds a little more than T.L.C.--but then so do I !!!
Just after the war the lower half  of the engineroom was wood grained and varnished
the upper half painted pure white-this was done by the stoker who was an
ex-painter and decorater-every thing seemed "Bristol" and the food wonderful
Ah- i hear you say the ramblings of a "wrinkly" and your so correct
Mark if  you should go down to Swansea i would be more than gratful for some
photos-should i send you a memory thing (other than an elephant)
     regardes

on facebook there is a photo group called port talbot old and new. over 4000 phots on there quite a few of the docks in the olden days including vessels being tugged around, maybe worth a look for tuggers. i am going to try and contact the chap who posts the docks and shipping pictures today to see if he has anymore tug pics i can nab off him

cheers
