Watkins paddler - not!
« on: July 22, 2009, 04:58:31 »
Hi All
After 30 years off the bug has bitten again. I climbed up into the loft and resurrected a plank on frame scratch-built freelance paddle tug hull I built over 30 years ago, then moved house and it has resided up there since. Dusted it off and got  round to adding the sponsons then decided to invest in a pair of graupner paddle wheel kits. A bit of surgery took place but they finally went in. This is only a display model which I have decided to complete as the paddle tug 'William Watkins could have owned but never did'. Decided to name it 'Sylvia' after his musically gifted daughter [who later became the mother of novelist Georgette Heyer- Ok ask the wife/girlfriend, or both] and it also perpetuates the '-----ia' fleet naming theme. Hope to get some pics soon which I'll send over.
regards to all
Tug.

Sylvia on the stocks.
Slow going, as I have to remember how I did things years back, but getting there!

Just getting back into things now that the garage has reached a reasonable working temperature again. Nothing finally attached yet and lots of finishing and detailing to do on all components. Starboard paddle box still unfinished.
