Newbie questions?
« on: October 12, 2009, 01:50:58 »
I've posted a few newbie questions over the last week or so, asking for advice on boat setup, what is involved with a tug towing competition and how it's scored etc...

So perhaps a new board for "Newbie Questions" might be an idea?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has often thought about tug towing, but really doesn't have the first clue as to what is involved and how things are done etc etc.

Regards
Eddy

Eddie,

A suggestion with some merit I think. We will see what Tugmaster thinks of it..

I agree. A Newbie Questions may get some of the guests to sign up.
When I was 'guesting' the thought of asking an expert for advice was a bit daunting. I've since had great and friendly help from many experts who don't mind answering questions that they must have been asked many times before but are completely baffling to a beginner.
We're all in it for fun and the more newbies we can get involved the better.

I also think this is a very good idea from Eddy, a question and answers section would be very helpful and not only just for newbies  ;)

I am still learning everday from the input on the forum  :)

Looking forward to what TugMaster thinks  ;)

Regards, Dan.

A newbie Q & A section is no probs to start but a general Q & A section can just be done on the correct board ...can't it ?

Just always a bit concerned starting more and more boards as sometime we have complaints that we have too many !!

What do you think ?
Ok, so I like a drop !

Personally I think a board with an obvious title, like "Newbie's Questions" should work fine..

Why not just rename the existing Q&A site to include the word Newbie?   Fred.

Fred,

Maybe it is just me but we don't have a Q&A Board at the moment!!!!

Anyway a simple one which is obvious to newcomers may just help them and boost the membership at the same time..

Sorry Barry' I what I meant was to make the advice wanted and the advice given boards into one Q&A board.  Cheers, Fred

Just a suggestion ;

In the MODEL BUILDERS DEN section,

Between ; Useful Charts and Tables    &   General Help, Tips and Advice Offered catagories, could you not add a catagory titled

New To Tugs & Towing ?
Ask your questions and gain your knowledge here.

Its just a thought  ;)

Regards, Dan.

Exactly Dan, that would do it perfectly...

Lets hope Tugmaster can see the need for this, he seems a little reluctant at the moment, or maybe it's just me being impatient?  :D

Tugmaster is a very busy person, with his own personal work outwith the forum, also I believe he is very busy most days with a bottle of Rum  ;D ;D ;D

Be patient Eddy, and you wish could be granted, I am sure Footski will keep you right  ;)

Congratulations on 2000 posts!  :)

I'm sure you realise my comment about the Newbie Questions area above, was made slightly tongue in cheek ;)

If Tugmaster decides not to implement it I won't be spitting my dummy out - I'm a big boy now and can cope with rejection  8)
