Shout Box
« on: November 21, 2009, 08:39:26 »
I recently joined a car forum, which has a cool feature called a 'Shout Box'.

Kinda like a 'Live Chat' feature.

What do you all think of this feature for this forum....and is it possible to install such a feature on this site??

Hi mike, Ive seen shout boxes before ....the only thing I would worry about is that the forum becomes bit of an instant chat site and the posts on the forum will die down. We have great traffic because I think people come back to read the posts and whats been going on. Would all the chat in the shout box be lost and not saved for others to see.....not very well put by me but I expect you know what I'm trying to say.

Not saying no but just concerned the posts will drop and so will the audience.

What do other members think?
Ok, so I like a drop !

Yes it's possible to add a shoutbox to the site, but personally I've never seen the point in them..... That's only my view though, others may differ.

I agree with TugMaster, unless there are photos to be posted, I think that if everyone was chatting then hints/tips would be lost on the forum. The whole idea of a forum is to get everyone adding input regarding certain topics etc, you can chat via posts but obviously not everyone is online at the same time.

An ex-member from the forum contacts me via Yahoo chat room and we discuss issues regarding new tugs etc, this is purely for our own intrests, also I have a msn account that i can chat with people but I very seldom use it.

I do understand were you are coming from Mike, but personnaly from my side it would not be of any valuable addition to the forum.

Regards, Dan.
Photos / Information, I nearly have them all !
