First time on board here
« on: November 27, 2009, 22:24:34 »
Ahoy shipmates
What a swell site.
Been snoopin for a few days and think I'm gonna like it here.
Have done  a few RC tugs with the largest being the Dumas Shelley Foss (large) She's a beaute and since I live on a floating home on the Columbia River here in Portland Oregon, USA, she travels the waters of my "front yard".
I am active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary here and use a 20 Shamrock Pilothouse for patrol. That's her pic in the avatar under about a foot of snow. She's pretty tugish and I do a lot of SAR towing.
Just now I am building a Dumas USCG 40 Utility boat and will run in some pics of the build soon.
We have lots and lots of pusher tugs working the rivers here. I'll also post a few pics for you fellas to see how we do it 100 miles inland on the Willamette and Columbia rivers.

Cheers

Lynn

Lynn,

Great to hear from you and welcome to the madhouse. Plenty of good banter flies around, with the odd bit of advise, both wanted and needed.  ;D ;D ;D

Enjoy the site and we look forward to seeing some photos, after all that is one of the first rules!!! :) :) :)

Ahoy there
Here's my build of the Shelley Foss.....you will notice that in my house the tug is named "Connie" Foss which strangely enough just also happens to be my wifes first name. hmmm I didn't just fall off the barge ya know.

youbetcha!
That's the one
Sorry the pic isn't better...really makes it look pretty tacky....it isn't.  Computer glitch caused loss of all my other pics of the build, sea-trial, and of course, the manditory  "proud builder kneeling next to new baby with remote radio in hand."
