Fotiy Krylov strongest tug in the world
« on: December 01, 2009, 06:41:44 »
Since some years i was looking for info and drawings for making the strongest tug in the world the FOTIY KRYLOV

The Fotiy Krylov is built for the Russian navy

and after some times it was Charterd by Tsavliris in Greece. After some years see had also her sistership the Nicolay Chiker. For some years these two tugs had done many salvages for the Greece Company. Now since 2 years they are back to the Russian Navy. The Fotiy Krylov is working as a rescue tug by the Pacific fleet and the Nicolay Chiker by the Atlantic Fleet.

Now i have all the information a started with building it.

Mine model will be maked with the bread and butter hull constrution.

The deckhouse etc is cardboard. And further some details are very simple.

The wheelhouse is the bottom of  meat saled.

And the davits are mede of coffe stirrer

the whinches are parts of a sewing machine

and pieces of plastic and some rings

and this is at the moment.

In next one i will let you see how you can make the whinches davits etc.
I had make them because i didn't find the things so i started to make them from simple things

Thats looks an interesting build you are doing, looking forward to seeing lots more of it, information and plenty of photos  :) :)

Kind regards, Dan.
Photos / Information, I nearly have them all !

What is the most powerful tug? There is no easy answer. It starts with the definition, what is a tug and what not. The following list contains mostly traditional deep sea tugs and AHT. In bold letters are some AHTS. The list is far from complete. There were so many AHTS in the range of 200 tbp to 260 tbp built in the last years, that it is impossible to keep track of them. The number of new AHT is relatively small. Far Samson is also classified as AHTS!

Most powerful tugs
Far Samson                 35,900 bhp        423 tbp      2009
Normand Progress    27.920 bhp    304 tbp   1999

Thanks for the welcom words.
What i said i was looking for information and drawing for years.

First i was trying to make a hull of polistyreen but that is not easy to work with. So i have now a hull of wood with the bread and butter contruction.

The accomadation is made of cardboard. This is for the weight.

One of the first things was that i was looking for crane's and rescueships.
I found some by http://www.modelltechnik-hamburg.de/
First i order some crane's. The Fotiy krylov had 3 crane''s and 1 order 4. 1 crane i set in a working stand with the arm up. I can chance with the 2 crane's on the aftdeck.

Here some photoes of it

you see first i glue the arms together.

Than i glue some small pipe at it and make a cabin out of balsawood.

i also made the "working" crane

when i painted the crane's i put the windows at it. these are some black stickerfolie

i will later put all the further details like hoses and cables to it.

at the helideck there are big lockers for putting things in for using by the helicopter.

I take some pieces of wood and draw it out.

the lockers do have signs hese are very small in scale 1:100 so i had some on picture and i take it out and print it again. Cut it out and glue it to the woodpieces

and put it on the model like this

i had also do this at the same matter because i have no russian letters.

and put it on the deck

the davits for the lifeboats are not found at the internet so i had to make it by myself.

I had take some coffe stirrer for the profile. Cut them in pieces and glue them together.

you se you can use simple things instaed of buying things. And for scale 1:100 there is not much to find so you had make it by yourself
