8 Amp BOBS BOARDS - NEW !
« on: December 02, 2009, 12:10:48 »
3 Brand New BOBS BOARDS for sale, suitable for motors drawing up to 8 amps, great bits of kit, I bought these earlier in the year but since Santa has arrived early and I have been given a box of assorted ESC's I now have no need for these.

I paid 12 each and am selling them at 9 each (INC P&P to mainland UK) or all 3 for 25 (INC P&P to mainland UK).

Maybe you might have something to swap ?

Regards, Dan.

Photos / Information, I nearly have them all !

Not at all Andy  :( Some people (including myself) still use these great items for models that have a single motor & battery, no complications involved and a great piece of invention  :) I always carry with me to the local lake a few boards made up with servos, just incase the more expensive ESC's I use give up the ghost  :) :)

A GREAT INVENTION  :) But just too simple or 'ugly' for some modellers to use  ;)

Just too wasteful of power for me I'm afraid  :)

Agree with what Dan says.

, The fact you can still buy them is testiment in itself.. Only waistful on power in my opinion if used for the wrong purpose, I have 3 Boats which we use at shows where we let the kids have ago , using a 6v 4amp battery the boat will last pretty well all day but with the added bonus that most kids when they get the hang of it like to pretend they are the stig. With the low motor I have in mine they can never really get up to to much speed to cause any damage.  I use Vipers for most other things but here they serve a purpose and easier to repair then a sealed ESC

Also Scoonies I believe do quite a trade on them , sold out of them at The Model Boat Convention 2008 so someone must love them.. :-*

A magnificent piece of kit. I am reusing one that I have had in a model for over 20 years......They just work...

:o :o   Bit Like Marmite these Me thinks..!!

On the Subject of this type of speed Controller , I recently aquired a vessel with this in. Any Ideas as to what this is /was called and who made them.. Again the unit is working fine and I see no reason to strip it out although I have no Idea what the white Ceramic type oblong box with the wires going into is doing..Is that a fuse or something..

That's an old Tamiya 3 step speed controller, the white jobbie is a resistor, it gets hot (and eats valuable battery amps for breakfast  ;))

Cheers , Have to do some testing now, Never even thought about seeing if it gets hot or not , if I had known that we could have used it today at the display we did in PortSunlight Village , as it was a bit ...Cold at times. :-[
