What Paints do you use ?
« on: December 07, 2009, 15:02:46 »
Following on from Model Tug Man's post regarding painting, I thought it would be an idea for us all to tell what type of spray we use for or models  :)

http://modeltugforum.com/index.php?topic=1859.msg25226#msg25226

Personaly for me I use Halfords car spray range which has a very large range of colours and is very easy to use  ;)

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_158568_langId_-1_categoryId_165495

I have found differnet types on the market for different apllications but guess that as Halfords is only a 10 minute walk from my house it is easy to pop down for a tin  :)

What do other members use and maybe a price that they pay ?

Regards, Dan.
Photos / Information, I nearly have them all !

Yes, Halfords spray cans for me too plus Revell Aquacolour for brushing and artists acrylics for figures and small detailing jobs, all finished off with a coat or two of chestnut acrylic lacquer or the equivalent from Games Workshop

I use Tkrom car body paints down here in the sunshine. Great quality and reasonably priced.

Hi
I'm new to all this but have a background associated with the graphics industry, I have found normal acrylic paints used buy the artist among us great. They looks good when varnished but just be aware how much you dilute the paint just a little water enough just to allow the paint to flow together without showing the brush strokes and use fine haired artist paint brushes use the larger flat brushes for larger areas. Car spray paints are great too, no matter where you get them from. for small areas I've just found another source to compete with Humbrol, not in the same variaty of colours but you can always mix to get the colour you need. The paint is Plasti-kote a fast drying enamel (which suits me because i'm always impatient to get the next part done) seems to do a good job at about 2.65 for 60ml bottle and also some colours available in spray cans. Available from your local Wilkinsons and other similar shops most colours available in Gloss or Matt finish

Just make sure you don't mix Plasticote and acrylics
