HMS Hesperia
« on: February 01, 2010, 16:16:20 »
Painting of Bustler class tug Hesperia assisted by an Assurance class tug towing a foating dock.  Both tug and tow were wrecked on the Libyan coast on 9th Feb 1945. does anyone know any more about it?
Cheers,  Fred

Thank you Gentlemen,  It took me about a week to paint this one.  Just done on a piece of scrap hardboard in acrylics. Thanks for the info Dan, I gather from Jonty that the tugs broke adrift in a storm and Hesperia tried to push the dock away from the shore but both were driven ashore and lost.   Fred

Been sidetracked a bit lately Dan, doing other paintings like racehorses and attempting portraits from family photos. Can't wait to get back to tugs.
Cheers,   Fred
