AHT 'AZIZ'
« on: April 24, 2010, 14:31:18 »
Just been offered a new tug the AZIZ from model slipway, well from a friends uncle. Collecting it during the week. Can anyone tell me how many channels i should run in it. 2ch or 4ch, an what speed controllers i should use.

Also what is the lighting setup on the boat this is something really new for me.

as yet i cant tell you whats in it as iam yet to see it all i have been told is its got 2 indepente motors 1 steering servo an a bow thruster.

If you want to steer the two motors independently plus rudder plus bow thruster you need at least 4 ch. For everything else like lights, winches, crane etc you need even more. The choice of speed controllers depends on amperage of the motors you use.

The navigational lights are ruled in: INTERNATIONAL REGULATIONS FOR PREVENTING COLLISIONS AT SEA
This regulation is strictly text, no pictures included. The following link gives the missing pictures:

http://www.bosunsmate.org/seamanship/lights.php   There are links to the text of the rules for reference and light emitting angles of the different lights.

The last link shows the angles in which the sidelights, mastlights, and sternlights should emit light:
http://www.msq.qld.gov.au/Safety/Navigation-lights/Navigation-lights-image.aspx

For special aspects like restricted manouverability mostly 360 lights are required.

I hope that helps a bit.

Well i got the tug an iam now  >:D with my self should have looked 1st before i paid an got her home...

the deck looks ok no really work just a bit off glue here an there an the front an rear fenders need to be put on ::) an as for deck clutter OMG tyres off a 1/10 monster truck??

but the real job, the wiring ive got more wire than an electrical shop?, wire from the motors will wrap around the boat, there is wire from some where to some where ???, an every end is diffrent, an more fuses than my car?

one light works dont get me started on those wires.

i pulled it around with a smaller tug just to see what it was like an took on more water than the titanic :o

needs to escs an radio, i was told. 150 i paid i was ROBBED

 >:D >:D >:D angry

Iam just very very  confused now

Circuits A and B are optional - just leave 'em off if you just want it to go forwards, backwards and sideways.
Suit yourself.

She's a good looking tug Chris....albeit the wiring a tad....wild ;) ;)

But some folks just make sure that it works, and leave the 'tidiness' till later.

Sometimes 'later' never comes eh??

I'm sure that Dave at AcTion will get you squared away though...and fully functional :) :) :)
