Hong Kong Harbour Tug Tai Koo
« on: May 16, 2010, 10:34:17 »
Hi all this is a long shot, I am trying to get some info for my next build the Hong Kong harbour tug TAI KOO, here are two photos of the same type of tug. These are the only photos I have found after hours of searching the internet. I saw a model of this vessel at the Harrogate Engineering Exhibition last weekend. This model was built to a very high standard buy Phil Scales with quite a few good quality photos of the vessel in his build log, I managed to contact Phil but unfortunately he told me he had no spare photos that I could purchase from him. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Brian,
Did you manage to track down the owner of the model I photographed at the Ellesmere Port show? All I know is that he lives in the N West possibly Lancashire, maybe someone on here from the Ellesmere club knows him?

There is a nice painting in Tug Art, it was based on phills boat, page 1 half way down the page.

Thanks for the photo ARH, she makes a nice model. I have bought the same hull as Phil. At the moment I am building the azimuth thrusters for her. Unfortunately there is a shortage of good quality photos of the real vessel. I did take quite a few photos of Phil’s model at the Harrogate Engineering Exhibition this month.

Howdy Chipchase,I was in Honk Kong last year in Oct and there was one in a hobby shop that was simply stunning :),But much to the wifes relief it was not for sale .I will try and have a look back thru the photos we took and see if I can locate which store it was in!!!! The guy in the store told me that it was on you tube and it was built in china!!!!!!!Do not know how true the info he told me.
