ME Exhibition @ Sandown
« on: December 04, 2010, 11:49:46 »
I read in one of the model magazines that there was a model engineering exhibition at Sandown race coarse next weekend and I was just wondering if any members have been to this show in recent years?
As I go to the show at Alexander Palace in January but was wondering how this show compared thats all.

Regards

Kevin

Hi Kev,

It's not advertised very much this year, I went there two years ago very interesting but mainly small and large model trains and lots of steam engines of all sizes.

I agree with John, definately more model engineering than model boating. For those not in the first flush of youth be aware that you could end up with a very-very long walk to the exhibition halls. My Sat Nav also took me to the wrong entrance which has no access to the exhibition or its car parks, so watch out for exhibition signs as you get close to Sandown.

MMB  will be there on stand 38 for the duration, it is the first time I have been to this show so I don't know what it is like.....

However, I do know the organisers are trying to get more marine orientated exhibits and traders there.

Does anyone remember the Model Symposium they used to hold there a few years ago, now that was a good show!!!!

I wrote a message on here regarding the Sandown show in 2010 well this year I made the trip up the M4 to Sandown to see what the show was like, here's a few photo's that may be of interest to members also included is a superb 24 cylinder Napier engine and it was machined without the aid of CNC machinery.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. The engine was quite impressive. Especially since it was built without CNC.

Would that be Nelson's rum barge in the background of the 3rd pic?
