J P Knights Book To Be Printed.......
« on: February 22, 2011, 14:07:52 »
Just a polite request for photos of the tugs of J P KNIGHT company which was established in 1892.

I am compiling a book and have a publisher ready to press the 'print' button, but I am missing some photos and info of the fleet of tugs owned by J P Knights from the start to the present day, should any member have photos of any J P Knight tugs (past, present or even renamed) please could you forward them on to me via email or posting on the forum, should I verify them and clarify information then you will be credited within the book.

Looking forward to some response,

Kind Regards,

Dan.

Hi George, nice to hear from you, you have been a bit quiet of late, hope all is ok with you and yours  ;)

At the moment I don't have any specific ones that I need, as I was hopeing that what photos people have they may be better then the ones I already have, if you remember back to the Bluewater cd you sent me, it contained a good few photos of Knights tugs and some I will be using  :)

I will compile a list over the week of what is needed, I was also hopeing to add a few photos if I can get some of the crews or crew members that sailed on these tugs.

Any photos, info etc is most appreciated.

Kind Regards, Dan.

Off today to visit the crew of the Ormesby Cross which is in Invergordon, obviously taking my camera  ;)

All I have on J P Knight is an old color brochure. I would be happy to scan it for you if you would like. You will have to wait until I rebuild my computer since it recently had a HD crash.

Info on the bookseller would be appreciated as I would like to add a copy to my library.

Hi Ged, met the skipper yesterday, he said to come down to the tug before 3pm today, I arrived at 11am and they had sailed for the Tees  angry angry A nice chap he was and we were talking about you and the Redbridge, lots of juicy information that I can bribe you with !!!!

Better luck next time I guess, If you do see him, pass on my regards and thanks for the invite on to the tug, just mention Dan from the Caledonian Bar  ;) ;)

Now, must get on with this book .......

Regards, Dan.

One photo I need (if not the most important) is one of the Original J P Knights office which was in 348 High Street, Rochester. I have googled it and it looks like it might have be demolished and rebuilt as flats ?? I do have a small photo of it taken back in the 1980's but a modern day photo would be great  :)

Can anyone help please ?

Regards, Dan.

Hi Dan,
If you go to the J P Knights website and look at heritage and there is a very nice picture of the Admirals Office, but it is a photo from Chatham Historic Dockyard.   Maybe the will let you use it ?
Really looking forward to getting a copy of your book as i'm a J P Knight fan. Brian.

Cheers James & Brian for your response,

Firstly, Brian (Caliph) I have all the photos and details from the J P Knight Website, but I was hopeing to get some newer photos from members, also the more photos from members the more acknowledgements I can add to the book  ;)

Secondly, James (Capt.Towline) Would it be possible for you to email me a hi-res photo of the Keverne with the Jack-Up, I am certainly condsidering this for use in the book, also did you take the photo ?

Kind Regards, Dan.
