Styrene size?

Hi,
I'm going to pick up some styrene and am not sure what size to get. I can get either .020 or .040". I was thinking .040 to make up houseworks and cabins. Any opinions before I pick it up?

Curious where you are ordering it from - I've bought mine at industrial Plastics - you have one in Langley - let Mark there know you're building boats. His Uncle now passed away had a great model of the Shelly Foss that he'd remember, built a case for it.

I ordered from them. They don't stock it so its on order.
Did you get glue from them too? I'd like something with a precision applicator, saw some plastic glues with a brush which would be messy.
I think I'll have way more than I need so might sell a bunch, just need some extra for experimenting and mistakes.

Hi Tbone - I use a liquid plastic glue that the Shaver Shop in Victoria carries - I'm up island and don't have access to it but it works well - small brush provided - touch and it runs. Sometimes I use a needle and let it run off. Used styrene for years - model railroading a long time ago - Al Armitage wrote a few articles on its use - might Google that.

I use water thin solvent cement for styrene.
I pick it up from Acrylco on Annacis Island by the gallon.
It's methylene chloride, product name is "Resin Bond"
Acrylco also sells all kinds of plastic sheets, rod, tube and glues.
