The model that caught my eye as soon as I entered the show was a tug on the Kingsbury stand of a Daman 3111 Smit tug please forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think it uses a Jan Meerbeek Damen hull and makes a very nice working model.
Hence the interest in the Svitzer Laura which TEES G has shared some photographs with us today of the Immingham tug operating on the river Tees.
I bought a hull and plans off Mr Meerbeek some years back, and I must say the drawings have been produced to a high and excellent standard.
The Svitzer Laura project will be kept in the box until my current projects have all been completed which includes:
My scratch built Voith Schneider tug "Fiery Cross" made to a scale of 1:32, and restoring a 6'2" long stright running boat powered by a Stuart Turner Sirius engine diving two big prop's the boat was built by a friend of mine who unfortunatley died six years ago so I would like to get it back to full working order.

Regards
Kevin

Hi Folks,
Once again thanks for the comments, I to have most of the Damen 3111 parts, not the plan though but the parts I see in some other pics looks as if it might be an enlargement from one of Smits brochures. More pics from the show after I have been to the Rememberence service.

0486 - looks like the start of a Ken McKenzie there. Interested in seeing more of this - I'm about the same stage - nozzles & rudders ready to go together with some luck.
Perhaps the builder will catch this post. Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike
Yes thats my Ken McKenzie I have the Korts rudders and cages all fitted and the teeth at the front.
I was lucky that Ray Malone got the kit for me from Canada about a year ago.
I am doing a review for Marine Modeling which will be submitted next year I should think.
Which means I cant do a blog here (sorry MMI rules)
The fishing boats in the harbour are mine as well.

This is an interesting build and makes up into a fine model.

Thanks

Derek
