I found the plastic cover is not pretty.
So I have a new made of aluminum.

New hatc for the rear deck.

Here I have created the foundation for reardeck.

Thank you for your pictures Zeevaart1. Your tug is looking real good.
I find it exciting and helpfull to see progress pictures of a tugboat build.

I liked that you made an aluminum cover in lieu of the plastic one. This gives a good lesson to us all. If we are not satisfied with a part of our model, we can create our own and it's all right. I wish I had know that I could improvise in my early years of model making. . .

I did some calculations on your barge size. . .2,000 by 600 cm comes out to around 65 X 20 feet. Seems a little large. Did I figure wrong or let us know how your barge looks. And, a bow thruster in the barge. . .cool, I think that is very interesting.

Again, thank you Zeevaart1 from Michael in Anacortes, Washington

Thanks tugnut.
Hello 2tugboats This is the drawing from the barge.
My calculation comes out at 2500x675 cm.
But I make it a little smaller

I'm assuming he meant mm instead of cm...

This is the way I did it.
dimensioning of the barge are 180'x54' Veet.
180 '/ 3.2 = 56.25 m
54 '/ 3.2 = 16.87 m
my scale is 1:25
56m/25 = 2.24 after correction myn 2000 CM
16m/25 = 0.64m after correction myn 600 CM
correct my if am rong.

And thank you Zeevaart 1, for making an "mm/cm" error because I learned a bit more about mm/cms in relationship to inches. I'm way in the back of the class.

When I read about your barge with a bow thruster, I'm designing one myself as I type, my tugboat juices started flowing. So, I took your measurements to a conversion unit and it came out to 65 feet long. . .I thought, ah, that's not going to work out well. . .I double checked and figured that I had stumped myself trying to figure it out.

Well, enter the correct measurement and walla - 6 + feet. . .very cool.

So thank you for the lesson, Michael

Okay 2tugboats nobody's perfect, certainly not me. ;D
that's the beauty of a forum, here we all learn from each other.
And the beauty of a barge, it's pretty simple to make.
It is, in fact, a floating box.
Only the thruster, I have three systems there.
But I do not know which of the three I'm going to use.

As I said Zeevaart 1, I am working on my tugs bow thrusters. I bought a 12 volt bow thruster, largest one/$109.95, assuming it would be perfect for my tugboat's bow. . .not even close.

The motor is tiny and the propellor tube "looks" to small for its work expectations. Instead, my frantic mind has come up with using two, 2000 gph bilge pumps I am installing in my bow and stern. They will work in a flooded compartment with a grid in the bottom so the pumps can have all the water they want. And, at around $50.00 each on Ebay, I can have plenty of horse power on my tug's thrusters. Same price as the "wimp" and way strong performance for my tugs work load.

So, with your barge being pretty big, you might think about using my plan.
And Zeevaart 1, I would love to hear what 3 possibilities you are working with.

Personally, I love the sight of a barge in the morning. I worked, decades ago, on a crew building a big lumber barge that although a rectangle, the lines, shapes, and look of that barge were the spirit of a barge.

Great to be here, Michael.

Hello 2tugboats i dont use propellor tube's.
I use a thruster, which can also turning.
So you can reverse your speed.
Tugboat ahead, barge reverse, and then you can cross out.
I hope you understand what I write.
Here ar a few options.
