World Map
« on: April 21, 2008, 20:40:58 »
Hi TugMaster,

If you can find a spare 10 minutes of your valuable time would you do us all a favour (No,No, we don't want you jumping of any bridges!) but could you knock us up a world map picture (full screen) and put a red dot on it where each member is ? - remember - this is a family forum, so no swearing. You need not "dot" each member, as Britain would be just a small island. As we are a worldwide club thought it would be nice to SEE where we all are on this big space ball ?

OK - waffle over with ....
No matter which way you throw me - I'll always stand.

Hi Ken,

Yes a good idea !  :o

I have experimented with some software before but it never worked right for the site ... it would be great to see where everyone is as I know we have members from Japan, Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia to name a few ...oh ...and Malaga  ;)

I agree on the full screen bit as the small ones just don't work properly.

I will look into it and hope to come back with something during May.

Cheers

Hi Tuggy,

I knew we had our Canadian and American Friends, also our upside down writers and some from the White Cloud land.  Did not know about our Japanese friends - not worth mentioning Malaga though (they always brag about the sunshine !) - Oh, thats where Barry lives isn't it, slipped my mind  :o

Just thought it would be nice to picture where everyone was in relation to each other.

Cheers - Kenny

Hi Jim,

Sorry for delay in replying, Had to join Paddleducks and wait for verification.  Yes, that'll do nicely.  Can't fathom out how to get my pin on the map though.  They have almost a 1ooo members, but only 25 seem to show up on the map. will have to delve deeper when I get home from work.

Cheers - Ken

Hello all, as is typical of almost all forums I've seen there are always a plethora of members but those who contribute in any meaningful way is limited to a few percent. Here on Modeltugsforum I am happy to note that there are a greater number contributing regularly and of a decent quality without much need for moderation. Keep it up guys you're doing a wonderful thing.  ;D

cheers

Jim is right about about the contributers. Only a few are regular writers, so much so that, Mayhem forum actually cancels membership if nothing is heard after a time limit.
I'm actually in three clubs now, and I knew nuffing about boats when I started, but have a very high interest factor, and love to know whats going on. I've expanded to Paddlers, so, after Waverley, I shall attempt a paddler pusher tug.
Unfortunately, it's affecting my modelling time ;)  as I prefer to be sitting here reading, rather than in the shed, building, especially if it's cold outside. Sort of cosy, innit.   8)

Hi Ken,

Take the computer into the shed with you - start a new craze - Glue-n-Surf !
The scary thing is when you log on each day and see your "total time" spent on this one site, just like super glue, can't put it down.

Cheers - another Ken

Hi Ken:
You been peeking in my shop window?
That's exactly the set-up I have!
Really handy, but can get a tad chilly at times!
'Glue-n-surf' ;D I like it!
Just have to type fast so that the fingers don't stick to the keys.

Cheers
