THAMES LIGHTER
« on: April 26, 2013, 06:29:11 »
Freelance scratch built Thames Tank Lighter built to tow behind my little tosher Jacko. 45"x12". With the exception of the 1.5mm ply plating on the sides of the hull built entirely from the contents of a skip the builders next door were filling up with timber and ply offcuts and plastic conduit etc. [With their permission] Cost about a dozen cups of strong tea!
No commercial fittings in the build at all and used up some old tins of paint and glue.
Almost complete just a final few bits of weathering to finish, Tank top removeable to enable ballasting with plastic bottles of water.

Nice barges, gents.

Like the signage on the lighter barge.

Well done on the cheap.

Thanks Guys

Terry I too will be glad to see it on the lake. It has hung around too long this awful winter.

Thanks John

Hatchboards now on, cloth on, battens and wedges fitted to sides. Probably the wedges should be steel and attached with chains but lifes too short!!!![my excuse is there must be somebody about with bolt croppers!!]
