Kotug on the Thames
« on: May 22, 2013, 15:27:26 »
Members who live in the south-east of the UK who have a keen interest in the rotortug design might not have to travel far soon to see one in action as I've just read on the internet that Kotug have been awarded the contact to service the Coryton refinery in Essex when in re-opens next month, this contract used to be managed by Targe Towage before the refinery closed last year.

Regards
Kevin

Kotug are due around November on the Thames in line with the Gateway opening berth 1 and hopefully Coryton (thames oil storage) coming on line around the same time. Expect to see the RT Champion / Leader taking position  ;)

Hi Kevin, Just the two at present. I imagine that they will only send more if the work picks up. So far there has only been one ship at the new Thames Gateway port. With 9 Svitzer tugs already covering the Thames, Medway, I wonder if there will be enough work for them all. You can keep an eye on whats going on at Marine Traffic.com.
Terry.
