It is on days like this that you appreciate the transmitter muff that you were given sometime.

So 11.2amps provisionally gives 780gms thrust. I am guessing that this was at about 4250-4400rpm.

Do you still intend to measure the 147 prop when it is a little warmer & you have some assistance?

Yep 10.6A (11.2A-0.6A idle) amps for 780g of BP. That's 11.8g/W.

I'll try and get the figures with the 40mm #147 prop.

2015-04-03 Brushless gimbal

With a couple events coming up I'm in the process of upgrading my "onboard shooting" capabilities. Namely I'm going to install a brushless gimbal on my springer for filming duties.

Tarot T-2D V2 2-axis gimbal - 2-axis BL gimbal for GoPro 3 / 4 cams

The Thing - Gimbal will hang from that thing

The Thing - 5mm plywood all round

Side view - Lower "platform" will hold RX/BEC/Battery

Back view -

Parts - Parts laid out for CNC cutting

The gimbal has gyros and two brushless motors keeping the gopro level (2000 times/sec !) so that footage will be much less barf-inducing than last year at Bateaux en Fête

That's what last year's footage looked like (with the worst edited out)

Parts will be cut from 5mm plywood tomorrow on one of the club's CNC routers. With some luck first trials will occur next weekend.

He he. Steam boats in May. Bateaux en Fêtes in June and of course the Towing Day in August. I should be able to get decent footage with that rig.
