Photos 1 & 2 show Tug Otago (acknowledgement to Ian Mclean of MarineTraffic.com for image 2).
Photo 3 shows Tug Otago with HMNZS Otago (a Royal New Zealand Navy Off Shore Patrol Vessel).

There is also another tug "Taiaroa" of which I do not currently have any images of. I will add "Taiaroa"in the near future.

Tugs "Rangi" and "Karetai" have recently been sold and are going to somewhere in Queensland, Australia. They were built locally and served Port Otago for 40 years.

You can't say "built locally" about a lot of the new NZ tugs these days. Steelworks in Whangarei must be doing it tough t the moment.

Your not wrong there Steve.

Otago was built in Whangarei though, about 10 years ago.

Taiaroa was built in Da Nang, Vietnam by the Dutch company Damen.

Steve is a good chap.

We have a 1/24 th model of the Karetai here in Timaru.

Steve should have the drawing set and we have plenty of photos of them from on board.

Are you in the OMES Wayne?

No I'm in Wellington. PM sent.
Hayden and Simon Brown (Vanya and Kiwinz on this forum) are in Timaru and have a very nice Karetai.

Karetai has a big voyage tomorrow at Lake Hood, Ashburton.

A big lake with bigger waves but if I am there early it will be nice.

Bought a new 12v 18Ah gel cell today so two batteries and all ready to go. Looking forward to it so will get photos.Might even find a tow.
