When the need arizes
« on: October 25, 2014, 15:12:57 »
Need a couple of Kort nozzles for my current build.  Also a couple of rudders.  Decided to try (for the first time) to build my own.  A piece of 2" ABS pipe and a chunk of 5mm plexiglass, a lot of dremel work and sanding, and hope it all works for me.  Getting  close to putting it all together.  (I think)  Need the stuffing tubes to get it lined up.

Beautiful Olscuzbut. . .you have inspired me to make my own. Your nozzles are,
as we would say when very young. . ."-better than store bought!"

Thank you for sharing and more pictures are just fine. . .

A sample of the plexiglass used to make rudders.  Will be adding a fishtail to the rudders.

By fishtail do you mean you are making a Becker style rudder?

No not quite a becker, but has similar advantages.  Think I have a pic of one I built for my Amsterdam.  Sorry, but my pics just don't want to upload.  Have been having this problem off and on for a while.  Basically it is a dovetail at the trailing edge of the rudder.  Acts like the Becker when turning.

Nice work, Don.

I will need to make some beckers for my next build, going to try the plexiglass.
