Help to identify
« on: December 09, 2014, 07:30:15 »
There is an object above the pilot house in the attached photo; has a yellow band with two black bands
Can anyone identify what it is and how it is used?

It's a typical daylight signal used for inland and harbour towage in The Netherland

Hello

This yellow/black cylinder is for daylight  as more visible than the international rule black square.

But at night the international rule have to be applied

Nice clean tug.  Must be a sister tug to the Smit Nederland.  Anyone know how many of these vessel designs Smit has?

had as there is no more tugs from this class on actual Smit list

My I say it was around ten, like with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs a name of a Dwarf is always missing

I remember Nederland - Rusland - Ierland - Denemarken - Finland - Sweden - Belgie - Frankrijk - Duitsland

In model, this tug is one of the best "classic" tug I've sailed (I mean classic : not tractor or ASD)
