RUMANIA Another old Thames steamer.
« on: February 19, 2015, 07:47:10 »
This is my 2015 build. Probably be a slow one this as lots of other things going on at home. Fibreglass hull, Pics showing deck bearers tacked in, awaiting some warmer weather to fix these in properly. Engine mount, shaft and steering servo in position. Nothing out of the ordinary in all of this. Other pic showing stern frame and rudder in position and awaiting filling. Stern frame secured through fibreglass by small screws, also screwed through the brass strip at bottom which is bonded to and bolted through hull for strength.

First fit of deck and superstructure base laying on top. STILL waiting for warmer weather in the garage. Most of this so far done on kitchen table whilst SWMBO is out!

Hi Geo
Maybe I was keeping it a secret so that if I mess up I can say its supposed to be something else!! No its RUMANIA. Not the Emp Susan one but the previous one which was an ex HS tug. Nice simple superstructure, no multi angle anti reflection wheelhouse windows, just a nice simple wheelbox!! I will dig out some pics of the original when I get a moment.

Slow progress but have managed to get the access holes in the deck cut out, coamings added and the  deckhouse framed out and almost ready for cladding.

Deckhouse and casing cladding now on, cleaned up and ready for final filling and fettling. The theory at the moment is that the casing skylight will be removeable giving access to the on/off switch and battery charging socket, which means the deckhouse wont have to be removed every time the switch is operated or the battery is charged.

Thanks Geo

Got a bit more done. Hull primed, deck painted, wheelbox made. Could not get the colour you suggested Geo so had a stab at this one. Next stage after some careful masking up is to black the hull.
