Balne Moor MBC
« on: April 01, 2015, 08:05:02 »
Hello Folks,

Balne Moor MBC will be holding our first Tug Towing event of the season on Sunday 12 April.

We have a new tow which was acquired when New Brighton MBC disbanded. Attached is a photo of "Elizabeth Waldie" as recently restored by Club Member, Roy Whitton.

This event will be the first opportunity to tow this restored ship so why not come along and have a go, if you can, you'd be welcome as usual.

Michael

Hi Michael
Looking at your message you've got a nice tanker to use for towing. Reading your message though its such a shame that the New Brighton club disbanded as I went to one of there club meetings back in November 1999 (doesn't time fly!!!!!) when I was working in Liverpool and they made me most welcome. Watching the TV series Coast the New Brighton club had a feature on there as well.

Regards
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Couldn't agree more, it is always sad when a Club has to disband for whatever reason.

The "Elizabeth Waldie" will at least continue to carry reference to the New Brighton Club.

Hello Keba,

I do not have immediate access to our new ship, but will take some measurements the next time I can which will be in about a week. What I can tell you now is that it is about 3 metres long and the scale is approx. 1/32.

Yours is an interesting web site!

Cheers

Michael

Hello Keba,

That sounds like an interesting idea.  I will talk to our Club and see if there is interest in information sharing.

I am just getting into the sailing of tugs having spent many years building rather than sailing.

There are a lot of experienced tuggers at Balne Moor who know much more than me.

If you have a look at our web site: www.balnemoormbc,co.uk  you can view the Club video which shows tugging at our pond as well as many other models owned by Club members.

Will be in touch

Hi Michael!
We will be very happy if your club will cooperate with us in a friendly way.
Your website too familiar. You have a beautiful ship models and gorgeous pond!
Our club does not own the pond. We must always build a competitive track.
I look forward to your next report.
See You Later

 Hi John!
Thank you for the rules. We know them and your rules were an inspiration to our rules. Our rules are more detailed. Every year we organize training for referees.

Unfortunately we do not have a translation into English.

A good day at the pond today in preparation for the weekend.

Elizabeth Waldie was put in the water for the first time.  Here is my Ormesby Cross on the bow.  John Pollitt's tug is controlling the stern.

Keba, I have some measurements for you which I will post later.
