« on: April 28, 2015, 02:18:49 »
Hello everyone!
The Club NAMOLO successfully tested reconstructed tow (cargo ship).
The length of the cargo ship is 277 centimeters (6 parts), width 50cm.
Material: sheet steel (hull), plastic.
Reportage and video: http://www.tugtowing.cz/?p=6642
The tow is designed for competition in towing tug - tug towing heavy category.

Nice !

Having a nice big tow makes it much more interesting.

I had the opportunity to tow mengam's Spirit of Archimedes with my springer tug (albeit with a wide blade 45mm prop). 4 meters * 0.75m, over 300kg once ballasted down.  Inertia could really be felt and really made it interesting.

Hello Keba,

That's a very nice tow your Club has produced, have fun with it!

I guess you might not now need the dimensions of the Balne Moor new tow "Elisabeth Waldie", but I have measured her just in case.  Sorry for the delay.

Overall she is 3 metres 44cm long and is made up of three sections.  The bow section is 101cm long 40cm high and 30 cm beam.

The mid section is 122 long and the stern 121 both with height and beam the same overall as the bow section.

The mid section is self ballasting and the two others have water bottles added when in use.

Cheers

Michael

Sorry, I just reviewed what I wrote and realise I have the beam and height the wrong way round.

It should read 40cm beam and 30 cm high!

Length of tow 4m - that's enough! :-)
What engine do you use most in your Springer Spirit of Archimedes?
Our tow was not repaired during the test fully loaded.
We estimate ballast to 150 kg.

Hi Michael!
Thank you for your tow sizes.
I wanted to know I could compare our lifts.
Oh I see how they are similar.
We still need to finish a few details on the bow and windows and handrails on the superstructure.

My springer has a 800kv 35mm brushless motor on a 6v SLA battery with a 45mm #174 prop from Raboesch.

mengam also upgraded his Spirit to a BL motor (130mm prop).

hello
On my yellow tugboat operate only one screw. The repair is now complete. Every ride is an experience. I have to finish the bow.

Your tow is an excellent size Keba.

At Balne Moor we have 3 tows about that size which are used often.

We do also have a larger tow, the "San George" (about 5 metres) which looks really good when on the water, but does take a lot of effort to get on and off the pond.

Michael.

Hi Michael!
Tow, which is five meters long that is truly the imposing!
What is displacement?
We have to tow our same problem and that is transportation.
All our tows are composed of several segments.
