Some UK tugs and one BC to identify
« on: May 10, 2016, 17:32:30 »
I got some old slides from my late mothers stuff the other day and found some interesting pix. One is of the Roysterer, must have been right around the time she was built as the slide is marked 1971. Others are of what I believe are UK tugs, that I cant quite make out names on so you guys across the pond will have to help out here. Then there is a BC tug towing logs that I don't recall ever seeing before. My mom almost always went with my dad on his Alaska tow jobs and took most of the pix. These are digital pix taken thru a slide viewer so the quality is not what we like but its the best I could do. Lets hope the pic loading Gods are with us today.

Hi tug, the last pics looks like either the Plumgarth or Avongarth ,with a Fleet auxiliary tug of the Dog class in the background,
The third pic with the crane in the background is also a fleet aux tug but one of the smaller girl class tractor tugs ( voith Schneider prop )
Second pic I don,t think she is a UK tug poss Italian or South African.  Geo.
Tugs are for life      George B

My mother never made it to RSA so must be Italian, I know she was there a couple of times. Thanks George!

I must note also I erred in the date on the pic of Roysterer, no date on the slide at all, so this would be mid to late 70's I suspect.
