Hmmmm, everyone must be doing some serious thinking here!! ??? ::)

We'd love to hear all your input :) :)

P.S.
Ray: I  like your idea, but who would judge :-X :-X

Also, Geographically, if we all got together at a central point, I figure we'd be up on 'bigfords' roof, which could still be under repair after his last 'get-together' ;D
Any updates?

Mike,

Got to say I like Ray's idea too. It could be judged by a selection of Forum Officials, who would obviously then not be entitled to win!!!Then again that comes with the responsibility and gives us mere mortals a better chance ha ha >:D

It could become the worlds first "Forum Exhibition", photos, explanations judges comments both critical and positive and finally the result....Great idea???

 Hello Everyone!!!,

Today i have been looking through an old book i have, "A British Manual of Seamanship" published in 1940 and it dawned on me that maybe a competition involving definitions from "way back when" could be a good idea. For example a word or phrase would be provided and we would supply the correct meaning. It may sound a little lame but throughout this manual there is some really interesting stuff and alot of which i think would be common knowlege for forum members.

Just a few of the Topics in the Manual include:

How to recover a lost Torpedo using two Life Boats!!

Tingle for repairing a boat, How to put it on?  (I am not sure what a Tingle is)!!

How to clear a fouled Anchor

Proper methods of giving orders to a Winchmen.

What is a Cringle?  How do you make one?

***As you can see some of this stuff is probabally outdated but makes for an interesting read.***

Just an idea, I am sure what ever form the Comp takes it will be worth being part of.

Cheers

Lee  :)
