That superstructure looks great Barry,
Amazing transformation, just by adding the windows & lettering has made.

Cheers - Ken

Right,

Got the 1st hull painting done, after removing the prop shaft and securing the rudder post in place permanently. Guess what.....I couldnt get the prop shaft back in. No room from inside the boat so after much swearing and cursing I removed the rudder post, put the shaf in and replaced the rudder, without too much damage to the paintwork.

Next for the ballast test. Most of the weight is in the battery on the starboard side, so I balanced it up with anything I could find....Result....I need about a kilo of lead to ballast it. That said, DOES SHE FLOAT ON THE RIGHT PLANE??, or is she bow light?.. ADVICE WELCOME please...

She is sinking....shouts Mrs Footski, whilst I have my back turne and sure enough water is flowing in at an alarming rate......Damn, Bl$&"%y damn.....Now I will have to dry her out and cure the leak....At least I know where she is leaking from....

.....Who said this was fun??? >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(

Hi Barry,

Don't know what your battery weighs ? - can you fit another in, say where the receiver is, and move that onto a small shelf ?
You also don't mention where the water is coming in from, from the prop tube - did you remember to grease it ?, or from the rudder post - raise it with an extra piece of rudder tube on top, slide a piece of next size up tube over the two and epoxy in place.

Cheers - Ken

ps - Whats happened in Malaga today, missed the news item on BBC radio2 and just caught the location ?

Ken,

The leak is on the joint between the bottom and hull sides. A little filler and plenty of paint, followed by varnish on the inside should sort it out.

As for Malaga today, it was down to ETA again. Two small explosive devices, designed to cause disruption. Unfortunately one was at the harbour at Benalmadena, which is one of our favourite places. No one hurt and minimal damage caused.

Easy for me to say, but take care all you Footski's.
Nice boat, think I will have to have a go soon at making one. Where did the name "Springer" come from and is that shape from a real ship/boat? I'm not being silly, its just that I have never heard of them before.

Could it be from 'Jerry' - put two or more together on a lake and there'll always be a fight !

Yes very shortly Ron,

I have bought another battery as Manxman recommended and am moving the electrics about inside, trying to ensure none of it gets wet. Will post in the next day or so.

I have hopefully cured the leak and installed another battery. Also raised the vitals out of the bilges. Hope to get a proper water test very soon.

Just got back from its first water test. Seems to be ballasted about right and manouvres well. Under throttle I can see that water will go over the top, but the leak is no more....

The second picture shows her performing her first rescue of the poor old watering can that had fallen into the pool... 8) 8)

The video is very poor as it was shot on my phone, while trying to operate the radio at the same time.

Barry,

Like it very much. Are you sure it was through holding the phone and camera at the same time, and not holding a glass of something by the pool?!!? :o

Well having put the glass down for a short time...hic hic....I am well under way with the superstructure....Tomorrow she is going for a swim with Lady T, so should then be able to start the finishing touches like, spraying the upper works and deck, adding the crane lifeboat...oh, and the crew....plus anything else that takes my fancy... >:D
