Being British
« on: December 28, 2007, 10:04:20 »
Being british is about driving a german car to an irish pub and having a belgian beer then travelling home, grabbing an indian curry or a turkish kebab on the way to sit in swedish furniture and watch American tv shows on a japanese tv.

and the most british thing of all?

suspicion of all things foreign !
Ok, so I like a drop !

When you fill out any form which asks for your nationality. If you are from Ireland you are Irish, Scotland you are Scottish, Wales you are Welsh and if you live in England you are BRITISH.......Why is that?????????? ??? ??? ???

              ...Hi Guys...

Its the same in Sport...For Instance...

When Andy Murray was doing well at Wimbledon He was the only Brittish player left in the tournament....
But when he got beat the headlines all said he was Scottish...

It used to the same with trouble at European Football Matches...
If the team won & the fans behaved themselves, They were English...
But if the team got beat or the fans caused trouble, They were Brittish...

Norry,
Andy Murray will always be Scottish to me, never even British.
During the World Cup he was asked which team he will support. His answer, any team playing against England.
I celebrate every time he gets beat, who do I support, Anyone playing against HIM of course.

If, when filling in forms in the UK , you enter `ENGLISH` in nationallity section it will be rejected, reasoning being it is viewed as discrimination towards any other ethnic group living in England. You Could Not Make It Up (YCNMIU).

Hello

May I talk ?  I'm a just a bloody frog but ...  ;D

Some of you are taking about difference between British and Scottish or Welsh ... is it not the same with you ?

Scottish are not British ?

In French there is an island named Great britain with British - British are Scottish, Welsh and English  For us the only non british from UK are the Irish from Northern Ireland

To be "simple" I avoid to speak about Cornish, Man, Hebrides ...

Anyway for you I'm a Froggy but in fact I'm Breton  my 2 parents are Bretons, my 4 grand parents,  8 ... 16 etc until is possible are Bretons then normaly there is Cornish or Welsh as Bretons are coming from there !

But the Bretagne is part of France and I'm Froggy to  :(   So each time I come to Portsmouth I make a *wee* on the pedestal of the Nelson statue (no power enougth to *wee* on Nelson feet !)

About British, English, scottish... I'm historicaly close to the Cornish and Welsh and I support any Welsh rugby team but don't cry the other I like you to !

For me British is a spirit, a sens of humour, very nice people some time hoolligans sometime gentlemen (sometime the same people) !
